Who does WordPress?

Is there a typical ‘WordPress Training person’ profile and is that person shortcutting? Should they be encouraged and empowered to do it themselves?

WordPress is a web publishing system, be it for a blog or a website and it sums up what the web has been about from day one, i.e. sharing knowledge and empowering people – only now it’s different. Recent figures show that 22 out of every 100 new active domains in the US are running on WordPress, year on year the CMS is maturing into a more accessible tool in parallel with the increasing marrying of people with technology. Tasks that previously were ‘best left to the experts no longer hold fear and trepidation for a growing number of people who are becoming or have a desire to become their own experts.

The unstoppable march into homes, offices and lives of the iPad is part of a major technology convergence taking place that motivates and enables individuals. Despite global financial meltdowns of economies technology forges on, possibly not regardless of but with regard to the economic factor.

Cutting edge and sophisticated websites remain the domain of experienced and talented experts in their creation but any attempts to stifle mass take up avaialable and growing technology is doomed before it starts.

So who is embracing opportunity? Early signs of I-Netco’s WordPress training delegates by no means offers a scientific case study but the question can be addressed in microcosim. We’ve had:

  1. Person currently in employment starting a business part time manufacturing efficient fuel.
  2. Capable individual with a computer science degree wishing to improve upon his current business website.
  3. Holiday home owner wishing to publicise and increase bookings for his holiday cottage.
  4. Business owner with an existing WordPress website that is poorly supported and in need of an update which they want to manage.
  5. Marketing company who outsource WordPress web design to a web developer but need to manage content for clients.
  6. Business advisor helping spouse to establish a new business venture.
  7. More people with existing WordPress sites that they need to manage.
