WordPress Training Durham Review

31st January marked the occasion of another Learn WordPress in a Day WordPress training workshop held at one of my favourite venues, Moor Chambers at Framwellgate Moor Durham. Moor Chambers is a newly refurbished serviced office complex operated by The Office Co. Moor Chambers is tucked away behind the main street in Framwellgate Moor but it’s a good central location with ample free parking, good transport links and superb modern facilities as can be seen in the photo on this page.

There are many aspects of WordPress training that I enjoy; first on the list comes the challenge! Stepping out and deciding that you have valuable knowledge to share could be daunting  but, at the end of the day there is real satisfaction when the planning and preparation have come together resulting in a group of people going away inspired and motivated by the knowledge they’ve gained.

Another hugely enjoyable experience is meeting with truly diverse individuals and learning what they do, finding out about the projects and work they are involved with never ceases to amaze. This particular course was a great example of that, so much so that I’m sharing with you a fascinating insight into what some of the delegates do and where WordPress comes into that mix. There’s also some excellent training feedback very kindly provided from delegates.

So, without further ado, please meet:

Training Feedback

Yes, yesterday was fab.  Very informative, very helpful.  Now lots to do (but not until after baking week – this week we are prepping a 3 year old’s birthday party).

I think the most important part of the training was ‘where to start’.  You might not be aware of all the options open to you through WordPress sites, I certainly wasn’t.  This course has given me much greater knowledge and the confidence that I can create a slick professional site.  Highly recommended – ideal for any small business owner like me.

Training Feedback

The course was excellent. It was very well structured and informative and the pace of the teaching was just right throughout the day. Gerry was extremely helpful and patient and he explained everything very clearly. As I am interested in creating an e-commerce store I had some extra questions and Gerry was more than happy to answer them.  I now really appreciate the potential of WordPress for creating beautifully designed websites and blogs and I was so inspired that I got to work on creating my own site the very next day!

Training Feedback

A good day, you covered everything and I really enjoyed it. You’re a good teacher :)

I found the pace of the day was nice and relaxed which also made me feel comfortable if I had to ask questions or wasn’t sure on something. I feel that I will now be confident to build a website for The Shatila Theatre Trust and from that the charity will benefit.

Delegate Profile

I am an artist based in Whitley Bay and I graduated in Fine Art. I run graffiti workshops/projects and art clubs for children and young people around North Tyneside. I am on the steering group for The Shatila Theatre Trust and I will be making their website for them. In June I will be going to Beirut to the Shatila Palestinian refugee camp to do an art project with the young people who live there.

Me and another artist (Anthony Downie) will be teaching them aerosol art skills and creating murals that will brighten up the grey walls of Shatila. We will then bring back the same group of young people to do an art project with them here in the North East of England. We are doing various fund raisers for this project. One that I am running is an online art auction. And you can follow the progress though our blog www.shatila-art.tumblr.com or on twitter @shatila_art

My website is www.fayeo.co.uk

The current Shatila Theatre Trust website is www.shatilatheatre.btck.co.uk but with your help I will be changing it soon.

Training Feedback

I thought Tuesdays training was a great introduction to Word press, looking forward to implementing some of the ideas. I’m looking to develop a few more websites, so will probably be in touch if I forget how to manoeuvre around the dashboard.
